Why diamond certificates are important….

A diamond Certificate is an accurate description of your diamond that can indisputably identify your gem in detail.  True diamond certificates were never intended to establish a diamonds value.

Why diamond certificates are not important…..

You can be given all the dimensions of a woman, height,  weight, hair color, etc. but you can’t tell if she is beautiful! …the same is true with a diamond.

Many guests feel as though a certificate is some sort of a seal of approval, some think it’s a guarantee of high quality.  Its not!

Why diamond certificates can be dangerous…..

Many dishonest diamond outlets use their knowledge of certificates and their limitations to overcharge for their diamonds. Even going so far as to create fake certificates.  Do your on search for fake GIA certificates to validate this statement. http:www.glgroup.com/News/Certification-fraud-expected to grow….

Diamond certificate facts…..

All certificates GIA, AGS, EGL etc. disclose that “this certificate is not an appraisal, guarantee, or warranty”. The color and clarity are the opinion of the lab at that time.  The results can differ based on when or who grades the diamond.  This is why the same diamond can go to the same lab at different times and receive different grades.

EGL even states on each certificate “ diamond grading is not an exact science and this report represents only the best professional opinion of the company.

Diamond qualities not listed on the certificate…..

Brightness, scintillation, position and relief of inclusions.  These factors all determine beauty and are not found on the certificate.  These factors all translate to value.  Only AGS certificates disclose the fact that because of cutting, diamonds with the same color and clarity can vary in value by as much as 50% or more.
